Warrior Cats Fan Club Art Feature: September 2011

Hey guys! Sorry to be late with another feature! I've been SUPER busy lately. Between school, a part-time job, volunteering, being an officer of a student org, and attempting to squish some semblence of a social life in (haha), it's hard to keep up. I hope you don't mind, I lumped submissions from the beginning of October into this feature for organizational purposes. But of course, coming into this feaure I was BLOWN AWAY by how many amazing deviations we got, even though the vast majority of our members are now juggling school as well. No matter how many times I do this, I'm /still/ surprised by how many great pieces WCFC gets!

The pieces featured are only those submitted to WarriorCatsFanClub, the best Warriors club on dA, in my opinion. I'll try to do these as regularly as I can manage, about once per month, with my personal favorite pieces submitted to the club, as well a single featured piece that's my favorite from the entire month. This is just my opinion, though; don't be discouraged if you're not picked - art is in the eye of the beholder, and after all, I'm just one beholder. I'm sorry, but I won't be looking at lit pieces for this - I wish I had the time to read ever piece, but that's just not possible for me.

This may be the best anthropomorphic cat face I have seen in my 5+ years in the Warriors fandom. While the picture itself is simple, it emphisizes the main feature: Graystripe's expression. It is incredibly difficult to stay true to the anatomy of a cat while also making a face recognizable and relatable to humans, but this piece balances the two sides beautifully. I cannot sing the praises of this work enough. Wow.

This piece is incredibly. It manages to simulaneously showcase the haunting, unsettling nature of Rock and his wise, friendly, inviting side. It really showcase the dichotomy of his character, and the dull colors are just perfect.

The detail on this picture is just stunning, and the brushstrokes make it seem to move like the swirling waters of of the river. The colors are gorgeous, and the expression is perfect.
